About Scott

I believe in Birmingham’s people

I have been a resiedent of Birmingham for over 30 years. My wife and I have worked here, voted here, and built our family here. I recognize that the people of this city are tired of senseless conflict. I hear your frustration with a long list of broken promises, insufferable bureaucracies, totally unnecessary delays, deteriorating neighborhoods, and broken communities.

I not only recognize the need for increased cooperation and collaboration among people, neighborhoods non-profits, corporate, small business, and governmental entities, I believe as mayor that I can help make such cooperation possible.

Scott's Vision

Vote on December 8 for integrity, trustworthiness, capability and vision

Birmingham matters. At this critical time in the life of our city, integrity matters. Service matters. Capability matters. Vision matters.

As executive director of Greater Birmingham Ministries since 1992, I have provided, through this multi-faith, multi-racial organization, aid and advocacy for low-income families and neighborhoods in Birmingham. I have played a role in:

  • The implementation of Alabama’s Landlord-Tenant Law
  • The creation of Alabama Arise
  • The creation of Bethel-Ensley Action Tasks (BEAT)
  • The creation of the Birmingham Homeownership Center
  • The creation of the Old Firehouse Shelter
  • The creation of Pathways (a shelter for women and children).

I am an alumnus of Leadership Birmingham and Leadership Alabama and a founding board member of the Nonprofit Resource Center of Alabama.

I have a proven track record of bringing people together to serve the common good. Birmingham will benefit from the leadership of a visionary mayor with proven capabilities.

A vote for Scott Douglas is a positive vote for Birmingham.
